Default Fov -

so people have found a work around to the FOV issue, haven't tried it yet in game, pretty funny though.

Quote:
How? Go into \Documents\BFBC2Beta\settings.ini and change

Code:
Width=1680
Height=1050
Fullscreen=true
To

Code:
Width=1680
Height=600
Fullscreen=false
forces it to run in windowed mode, shorten the screen height and you have a widescreen fov, if you can stand playing in windowed mode until they patch a FOV option into the game.

If you check out the screen shot you can see, in the middle is what you normally see when in a tank, the increased FOV lets you see to the side some. :)

In the final version of Bad Company 2, the game uses Vertical FOV, whilst other games such as Call of Duty 4 use Horizontal FOV, so to get your desired Horizontal FOV go into \Documents\BFBC2\settings.ini and at the bottom of the text document there is FOV=55, so to get your desired horizontal fov use this ( http://rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php ), I put mine on 70 which is 96 Horizontal FOV. And I suggest somewhere around 90 Horizontal FOV. The max is 120 vertical fov (fov=120) but you dont want that.. the only thing in my experience that FOV changes is the stationary 50 cal's, which makes it so you cant see anything but the protector plate.

So just a quick reference. I think most of us used 80 in CoD.

FOV in settings.ini = 55 (Stock setting) = 65 actual FOV
FOV in settings.ini = 59 = 70 actual FOV
FOV in settings.ini = 64 = 75 actual FOV
FOV in settings.ini = 68 = 80 actual FOV

For now I'm trying 68 in my settings file. I went in quickly to see and it seems about right to me. I'll post what I think after I play with it for a while.

What do I need to set it to so that I can actually use the stationary 50 cals, instead of just seeing a piece of metal?

If you are running XP, you have DX9 and Lizz said it was a DX9 problem.

I'm using Vista but I manually set it to DX9 in the settings.ini.

Think changing it back will fix that?
