CEVO has developed and released the CEVO Performance Index (CPI), a mathematical formula for calculating teams’ overall performance during the regular season. CPI is carefully constructed to take into consideration all the important factors for seeding teams in the fairest, most unbiased way possible.

CPI is calculated using six components:
1) Point Index
2) Win Percentage
3) Strength of Schedule
4) Margin of Victory (does not apply to DoD)
5) Opponents’ Strength of Schedule
6) Head-to-Head Modifier

Point Index is calculated based primarily on the number of wins. Forfeit wins grant teams partial points, as do overtime losses.

Win Percentage is a straightforward calculation of a team’s wins versus losses.

Strength of Schedule is determined by averaging the Win Percentage of each of a given team’s opponents, minus the match between that team and that opponent.

Margin of Victory adjusts the value of a given win depending on the difference between rounds won and rounds lost.

Opponents’ Strength of Schedule is determined by averaging the Strength of Schedule for each of a given team’s opponents.

Head-to-Head Modifier takes head-to-head match-ups into consideration by providing a small bonus for beating higher ranked teams and applying a small deduction for losing to lower ranked teams.

Throughout its development, CPI was constantly scrutinized for effectiveness and fairness. It was important to not unduly penalize teams for ending up with forfeit wins, to include strength of schedule into the equation, and also to consider head-to-head match-ups. Furthermore, it was necessary to deal with the existence of dead teams, unplayed matches, and forfeit losses. You can be assured that the CPI formula considers each of these critical aspects to truly produce the fairest seedings possible.

Thunder Gaming Prevails Over The Usual Suspects in CG-Main
Jul 13, 2010 - 3:53 PM - by Typhoeus
After an intense battle of nerd nades, bullets, and just sheer insane rushing team Thunder has prevailed in their Week 2 CyberGamer-Main League! The match was done on mp_backlot and we won by the score of 13-8. In CG there is no knife round to knife for sides at the start there is a pistol round instead. Dallas of course being our top deagler where he should be right up top winning the round for us with the 3 kills, I myself and I believe maniaq only got one kill a piece winning us the round to select defense for our first side.

Defense: Our defense was pretty damn solid, coming out of the half with with an 8-4 lead.

We lit stuff up, one round was an utter catastrophy though as color$$ rushed into bottom A with his SMG and got 3 headshots on everyone going A. Several clutch rounds by many a different players, I believe Moses Dallas and Maniaq all had clutch rounds, all though Maniaq had more than one. I myself was left last alive on defense twice and I failed heavily trying to clutch. But with our solid team play and great communication we came out with a substanstial lead on defense. I give no props to any lone man on the team, it was a team effort and we played it as we were supposed to. With good coordination and skill. Even though I won't give props up to our players I will give them up to the nades, they were insanely good and everyone should be proud of their nerdly nades .

Attack: Okay so, we came out with an awesome lead on defense but we had a bit of a rocky start on attack. Color$$ did some major work on us this half, he was rushing like a beast and killed most of the team in at least 3 of the rounds. With the enemy nerd nades we had to wait a while before even leaving spawn. We went to throw our nades and then got naded in the most insane spots, like courtyard where I went to throw my smoke the nade landed right next to me several times and blew me up. With maniaq and dallas synchronizing their nades down to an artform at bottom A we did well at taking the site. We started figuring out what we were doing and then we picked it up and started rolling right along, coming out of the match with a nice 13-8 score.

Well played match guys and I hope to see the same teamwork and coordination this thursday in our cevo-a match against mainLine (Legendary's team). I will be writing another article on our epic battle against mainLine once it has ended. So good luck and have fun everyone!
